Deep Dish
Deep Dish, Samantha Halas' one-woman theatrical contortion show, deftly balances a poignant personal journey with a rocking retro vibe and will delight audiences. Helen, a dive diner waitress, is keen to bend over backwards to please her customers but bumbles orders, sets the table in handstands and juggling water as she goes. Halas generously shares her struggles with class, insults and expectations, while performing world-class contortion and foot juggling... with pizzas! Deep Dish is charmingly funny and deeply touching. As the show progresses tension with Helen and "Chef" unearths hidden darknesses contorted in the depths of her subconscious. The show is a representation of an artist trying to twist herself in the "real world" feeling like she doesn't belong, feeling like she cannot succeed because she does not fit the mould that society expects of her.
*Note* I would be so sad to hear that money was the barrier to you coming to see the show.
